The Snider spirit goes beyond sports teams

When Lindy Snider’s mother and two friends were undergoing chemotherapy and radiation therapy for cancer, they expected nausea, fatigue and hair loss.

They were not prepared for the ill effect on their skin from these treatments. Snider, wanting to help, searched online and in drugs stores for something that would relieve their rashes and extreme dryness. Much to her surprise, she found nothing.

Snider, inheriting the entrepreneurial gene from her father, Comcast-Spectacor chairman Ed Snider, decided to create her own product. After consulting with oncologists and dermatologists, she created Lindi Skin a few years ago. She now manufactures 14 products, ranging from face serums to body moisturizers, mostly at a factory in Warrington.

“Our products are in all 50 states in 550 outlets such as medical centers, including Sloan Kettering and John Hopkins, and specialty retailers like wig and mastectomy shops,” said Jim Kristoff, Lindi Skin COO. “We have distributed more than a million samples through the American Cancer Society’s Look Good Feel Better program and cancer centers.”

An unexpected obstacle has been getting the word out for this young company. “When I approached the fashion magazines, all of them said that they were not interested.

Allure magazine said, ‘We do beauty, not illness,’” Snider said.
