These Little Monsters are rocking out

There’s at least one advantage to being in an all-male Lady Gaga tribute band. “Everywhere we play, everyone knows all the songs,” says Dan Geraghty, guitarist for the Philly-based Rad Bromance.

The Bros — also Ryan Gaga, vocals; Chris Greatti, guitar; Brad Bowers, bass; and Mike Montalbano, drums — play hard-rock versions of Lady Gaga songs.

“We also get to be really over the top and we do whatever we want,” says Geraghty. “It’s a fun experience for us and the crowd.”

All between 16 and 18 years old, the School of Rock all-stars started their tribute last January. It immediately took off, and after their show at World Cafe Live tonight, they head off for concerts from New York City to Texas.

“We performed classic rock and we wanted to do something a little more modern and still keep us original, so we came up with Rad Bromance,” says Geraghty of starting the band. “Lady Gaga is probably one of the most famous people in the world and one of the most talented people in the Top 40, and her songs are musically challenging, so we wanted to put our spin on that.”‘

Plus, Gaga is more of a rocker than one might suspect. “There’s a video of her on YouTube before she became famous and she’s playing a Led Zeppelin song,”‘ says Geraghty. “It was pretty easy to figure out how to make the music more heavy and rocking.”
