Three killed in shootings

Violence claimed the lives of three people Tuesday night into Wednesday morning in Philadelphia, and seven others were injured in shootings.

A 22-year-old man died minutes after being shot just before 10:45 a.m. Wednesday on the 3200 block of Brandywine Street in the Mantua section of West Philadelphia, police said.

On Tuesday night, at around 11:30 p.m., two people were struck when gunfire erupted on the 2100 block of Marston Terrace in South Philadelphia, according to authorities.

Investigators said 27-year-old Ishmael Goodwin, who lived on the block, was shot several times and died shortly thereafter at Penn Presbyterian Medical Center. The other victim, a 57-year-old woman, was struck in the leg and hospitalized in stable condition.

About 15 minutes earlier, in an unrelated incident, a 28-year-old man was stabbed multiple times in the neck and chest on the 1800 block of E. Somerset Street in Kensington, according to police.

Medics took him to Temple University Hospital, where he was pronounced dead just after 11:45 p.m., authorities said.

Police said a 27-year-old man showed up to Jefferson University Hospital after being shot in the left leg at around 3:45 p.m. Wednesday on the 800 block of S. Broad Street in South Philadelphia. His injuries are not considered life-threatening.

Investigators said a fight over drugs led to a shooting just after 10 a.m. Wednesday on the 2000 block of Tasker Street in Point Breeze. A 40-year-old man was hospitalized in critical condition with gunshot wounds to his hip and foot.

Early Wednesday morning, at around 1:15 a.m. a 55-year-old man was shot once in the chest on the 1700 block of Saint Paul Street in Nicetown.

Officers rushed him to Temple University Hospital, where he was in critical condition, according to police.

In North Philadelphia, a 65-year-old man was shot in the back and chest while driving just before 11 p.m. near the corner of Lambert and Norris streets, authorities said.

He drove himself to the hospital and is expected to physically recover.

Just before 7:15 p.m. Tuesday, a 40-year-old man was shot once in the foot during a robbery on the 3400 block of Old York Road in North Philadelphia, police said.

Investigators said the gunman took his wallet, ID and $20 in cash and was last spotted wearing a yellow shirt and jeans. The victim’s injuries are not life-threatening.

Two bullets grazed the neck of a 32-year-old woman just before 6:30 p.m. Tuesday on the 200 block of N. Horton Street in West Philadelphia, authorities said. She was hospitalized in stable condition.

Police reported no arrests in the immediate aftermath of any of the shootings.
