If Chip Kelly is planning on making a move for a quarterback this offseason, step one is deciding what to do with Nick Foles.

The 2014 Pro Bowler had a solid start this season before suffering what would end up as a season-ending shoulder injury. Eagles’ teammates like LeSean McCoy have come right out and endorsed Foles as the starter next season and a healthy Foleshas proven he is likely talented enough to lead the Eagles to a third straight winning season.

But according to NJ.com, the Rams, Titans and Texans have expressed interest in acquiring the Arizona alum this offseason.

The Rams, who own the 10thoverall pick are the leading candidate. Their starter, Sam Bradford, has suffered a bevy of injuries in recent seasons and is also due $13 million next season. Foles is still in his rookie contract and is due just $660,000 in 2015.

The NJ.com report:According to a person familiar with the situation, but who requested anonymity, the St. Louis Rams have interest in Foles should the Eagles decide to trade him this offseason.

Foles’ possible availability was a topic of conversation among coaches and scouts last week at the Senior Bowl, with the Tennessee Titans and Houston Texans also mentioned as teams that would have interest if Foles hit the market.

Foles is just 26-years-old, and cutting ties with him would leave the Eagles in the hands of either Mark Sanchez (who was average at best in 2014) or looking to move up from the No. 20 pick in the draft.

The rumors could also be posturing by some interested parties as a maneuver to get Foles a better contract extension in Philly.

But if Foles is delt there are just two truly desirable quarterbacks available in Marcus Mariota and JameisWinston. Even if Philly swapped picks with St. Louis it is doubtful either QBwould be on the board when the Eagles took the clock.

With no reasonable backup plan in place for Foles, the trade talk can be taken as rumor–at least for now.
