Tweeters Beware: Info-Stealing Scam Hits Net

Tweeters, beware: a new scam has been circulating the web.

An email saying “Twitter account suspension,” or “Please re-verify your account” appearing to be from [email protected] has been appearing in inboxes across the country. The text of the email is an image, rather than a text link, so it escapes many spam filters.

The image uses Twitter’s blue-and-white color palette and logo, but actually links to various survey websites, which ask you to enter your Twitter log-in information for “special offers.”

Don’t do it! The hackers are just out to steal your personal information.

If you ever get a request to reset your password, don’t click on a link from your email– type in Twitter’s web address directly to avoid accidentally giving the information to the wrong people.
