Two teenage boys attending Burlington Township High School who were friends both killed themselves within days of each other in the last week.

Adnan “Ado” Halkic, 15, a freshman, and senior Mike Steve, 17, both killed themselves, authorities have confirmed. The means of suicide were not reported.
Halkic reportedly died Jan. 2. Steve, who gave a eulogy for Halkic at a memorial service on Jan. 8, took his own life that evening, according to reports.
Grief counselors have been assigned to the Burlington Township School District as students cope with the double suicide.
Both teens studied Brazilian jiu-jitsu, reports say. Halkic played varsity football and Steve wanted to join the Army after school.
Teens tweeted remembrances using #35Forever, referring to Halkic’s football jersey number, and #RIPAdoandMike.
“this is the worst thing to ever happen to this town. stay strong township,” tweeted one. “I lost both of my friends to sucide…I still can’t believe it,” tweeted another.
Further memorials were held at the school Wednesday and were expected to continue Thursday.
