Vick gearing up for the new era

Mike Vick is ready. Ready to start his first playoff game since 2004. And, in an odd twist of fate, it’ll be on the same field. The difference is he’ll be the one cheered, not jeered.

“Philadelphia’s always going to be a tough place to play,” said Vick, who quarterbacked the Falcons in their ’04 NFC championship game loss at Lincoln Financial Field. “I’ve witnessed it firsthand, and it was tough.”

No one saw this coming. Six years later, Vick will be under center for the Eagles in the wild-card round. Donovan McNabb — and some would say his goofiness — are long gone. Replaced by Vick’s never-say-die attitude and supreme confidence. It kind of feels like a new era, doesn’t it?

“Yeah, it’s a new era, so we’re just trying to go out and make our mark and play good football,” Vick said.
