Video: Eagles do the ALS ice bucket challenge

The newest craze around the world is performing the ALS ice bucket challenge to help fund money for ALS research. Recently, entire NFL teams have joined in on the cause. Last week the New England Patriots and Cleveland Browns performed the challenge after practice. NFL stars like Aaron Rodgers and Peyton Manning and even commissioner Roger Goodell have also doused themselves with the ice bath.

The Eagles are the latest team to do so after the team’s practice on Tuesday. The ALS Foundation has said that donations have spiked 1,000 percent since the challenge started trending.

“Lately everyone is getting more aware of ALS,” said LeSean McCoy. “I’ve known about it for a long time because my grandmother passed away from ALS. I’ve been involved and donating money for a long time. …I think the ice bucket challenge is a great way to make more people aware.”

Chip Kelly was seen walking around the NovaCare Complex drenched head-to-toe in the freezing cold water. McCoy says he embraces this type of thing.

“Chip was happy,” said McCoy. “He likes this kind of stuff. He likes these crazy battles. The snow game we had, he was all hype for. He likes these types of challenges.”

As for who the team is challenging next for the cause?

“All the challenges we do in the division we always win,” said McCoy. “We’ve got to find someone else.”
