VIDEO: Man arrested for firearms offenses after shots fired during Old City club brawl (UPDATED)

A New Jersey man has been arrested for allegedly firing off a round from an illegally-owned handgun during a fight in Old City early Sunday morning.

Police said that two officers from the 6th District were working the Old City detail at 2nd and Chestnut streets when, shortly before 2:30 a.m., they heard a gunshot from the area of 2nd and Market streets.

They ran toward a large crowd that was fighting in the middle of the block and began to break the participants up, according to investigators.

As officers separated the brawlers, one man, who police said was later identified as 28-year-old Christopher McRae, allegedly attempted to advance toward an unknown man for a second time. The unknown man then told officers, “He shot me!” according to investigators.

An officer grabbed McRae and a black handgun allegedly fell out of his waistband and onto the street. Police Tasered him, but the shock seemed to have no effect on the man. He fled, but was apprehended a short distance away and a weapon was recovered.

McRae, from the 1300 block of Merrimac Road in Camden, is charged with carrying an unlicensed firearm, reckless endangerment, resisting arrest and related offenses.

UPDATE: Shocking video footage of the brawl has surfaced on YouTube. It appears to show a group of men and women outside a parking lot punching and kicking a car with New Jersey tags in an apparent attempt to reach its occupants.

One of the car’s passengers exits and the fight spills into the street. Chaos erupts and the more than four-minute-long clip shows multiple smaller brawls breaking out between various people.

“Fight on 2nd street,” the poster wrote in the video’s description. “huge guy with a gun gets tazed and runs off. you can hear a gunshot at 00:41.”

The man Tasered, according to investigators, was McRae, who allegedly fired his weapon during the brawl. Police show up toward the video’s end.
