Philly police were seeking a man who they said ran up to a woman and smacked her in the face last week, leaving her with a laceration.

Police said Tuesday they had no information about a motive or what led to the crime.

According to the police report, the victim, a 51-year-old female, was walking on the 2700 block of Pennsylvania Avenue —a dark, secluded street that borders the Fairmount neighborhood and is adjacent to subterranean railroad tracks — when the attack occurred on Nov. 4 around 4:05p.m.

“She was approached by an unknown black male who punched her causing a severe laceration over her eye,” police said. “After the assault the suspect fled and was last seen [headed] west on Pennsylvania Avenue.”

Surveillance video released by police shows the suspect walking on Pennsylvania Avenue. The suspect is described as a black male, about 6′ tall, with a thin build, wearing a blue t-shirt with white writingand black pants.
