At least seven people were injured in violent crimes this weekend, as several large fights erupted around the city and a home invasion landed a 94-year-old woman in the hospital.
Woman stabbed during fight
A 23-year-old woman was stabbedSaturday night during a fight in Southwest Philadelphia.
Police said the woman was fighting an 18-year-old female when she felt pain and notice she had been stabbed. The girl’s mother, who witnessed the alleged crime, called police. Medics took the victim to the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania.
Doctors found the woman had been stabbed about 10 times – once in the leg, once in the back of the head, twice in the back and several times in the arm. She is currently hospitalized in stable condition.
Though investigators weren’t able to find the woman suspected of the stabbing Saturday night, they said the suspected teen turned came with her father to the 12th District police station around midnight and turned herself in for the crime. A knife believed to have been used in the stabbing was recovered, officers said.
Gunfire strikes five people, one television
>>The first victim of this weekend’s gunfire was a flat screen television, police said.
A security guard at Coconuts Ranch near 2nd and Ontario streets told police that an unknown person fired shots while standing outside the North Philadelphia bar around 12:45 a.m. Saturday.
Investigators said a bullet smashed through the front window and shattered a flat screen TV mounted on the wall. No injuries were reported.

Police responded to the 6500 block of Chew Avenue in East Mount Airy shortly after 2 a.m. and rushed the woman to Albert Einstein Medical Center, where she is in critical condition. The investigation into the suspect is ongoing.
>> A shooting at a Kensington recording studio less than three hours later left a man in critical condition.
Police said the victim, 23, was found around 4:30 a.m. on the 2100 block of East Tioga Street. He was lying in front of a multilevel warehouse comprised of 36 recording studios.
Investigators said the man was shot in the back of the head, neck and groin. He is being treated at Hahnemann University Hospital.

Police said the man was shot in the hip on the 100 block of West Lehigh Avenue and taken by private auto to Episcopal Hospital. He was soon transferred to Temple University Hospital, where he is in critical but stable condition.
>> A second 18-year-old man was injured less than two hours hour later during an unrelated shooting in Grays Ferry.
The victim went to pick up food at the Twin Dragon Chinese Restaurant at 2700 Dickinson Street around 11:40 p.m., according to investigators.
Police said after the teen left the store and was walking to the middle of the street to get in his car, he saw a man standing on the corner shooting at him.
The victim ran, but was shot six times in the groin and once each in the hand and shin. He is in stable condition at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania.
>>A 24-year-old man was shot last night while riding his bicycle in Kensington.
The victim flagged down officers around 11 p.m. He said he was riding his bike on the 700 block of East Tioga Street when he heard bullets flying and realized he’d been shot.
He is hospitalized in critical condition at Temple University Hospital with gunshot wounds to the chest and back.
Shooter sought
Police are looking for a man who allegedly fired shots into a crowd early Sunday morning outside Roar Nightclub at 720 Arch Street.
Police said officers were called to the location shortly before 2 a.m. to disperse a large, disorderly crowd that was fighting. They believe the dispute originated inside the club and spilled into the street.
As the officers attempted to bring the crowd under control, they heard gunshots. Three of the responding officers saw a man standing on the northeast corner of 8th and Arch streets firing a handgun in the direction of 9th Street, according to investigators.
The man then fled through a parking lot on the corner of 8th and Arch streets and was able to evade police. No injuries were reported.
The suspect is descried as a six-foot-tall, thin black male with a beard. He was last seen wearing a white shirt with long blue sleeves and blue jeans.
Bail set at $1m in syringe-point robbery
Bail has been set for $1 million each for two men accused of breaking into a 94-year-old woman’s Mayfair home Sunday morning by threatening to prick her with a syringe.
Christopher Brunkel, 31, allegedly forced his way into Sophie Drobish’s home on the 2800 block of Unruh Street shortly after 10:15 a.m. Police said he tied the woman up, assaulted her and stole her jewelry. Drobish is hospitalized in stable condition.
The victim’s grandson, 27-year-old Gregory Drobish, allegedly acted as a getaway driver. Both he and Brunkel were arrested yesterday and arraigned this afternoon.
Both men are charged with conspiracy, assault, robbery, burglary, unlawful restraint, false imprisonment, reckless endangerment and possession of an instrument of crime. They are next due in court March 21 for a preliminary hearing.
