Weekend crime rundown: Lawncrest nightclub shooting, Olney hit-and-run

Two people were injured this weekend in at least two shootings, and a hit-and-run in Fern Rock Thursday evening left a 28-year-old woman in critical condition and police in pursuit of the driver.

Investigators said the pedestrian was crossing the intersection of 10th Street and Godfrey Avenue around 5:45 p.m. when she was struck by a woman driving west on Godfrey in what is believed to have been a green or turquoise Ford Windstar or Chrysler Town and Country. The victim was rushed to Albert Einstein Medical Center, while the woman who struck her did not stop.

Police are looking for a heavyset black female wearing glasses who was last seen fleeing north on 15th Street. They said her vehicle likely has heavy front-end damage and a broken front windshield due to the crash. Anyone with information is asked to call the Accident Investigation Division at 215-685-3180 or 215-685-3181.

A partial house collapse shortly after midnight today prompted more than a dozen evacuations on the 2200 block of North Waterloo Street in North Philadelphia.

No one was injured when the front of a house, which was reportedly undergoing renovations, fell into the street, but authorities evacuated the home’s occupants, plus those living in the adjoining row homes on either side of the collapse due to unresolved structural problems. It is unclear what caused the collapse and when those residents will be allowed back inside.

Two men were injured in two separate shootings overnight. Police said that around 1:15 a.m. this morning, a man, 30, was shot in the thigh and hand during a robbery on the 400 block of West Wellens Street in Olney. He was reportedly driving a vehicle carrying one other man when two young men wearing hoods announced a robbery and shot him. The victim is in stable condition at Albert Einstein Medical Center.

A man was shot multiple times outside a Lawncrest nightclub about a half hour later. Police said a group of about 20 people began fighting inside Club Extreme on the 700 block of Adams Avenue around 1:45 a.m. The fight spilled outside to the front of the club, where a 33-year-old man who had been involved in the initial altercation was shot in the neck, arm and leg. He is currently in stable condition at Albert Einstein Medical Center.

Investigators do not yet have an identity or description of the suspected gunman. No arrests have yet been made in either shooting.

Anyone with information about either of the shootings is asked to submit an anonymous tip by calling 215-686-TIPS (8477), texting PPD TIP (773847) or by using this online form.
