Weekend crime rundown: One person killed, five injured in shootings, stabbings, home invasion

One person was killed and five people were injured this weekend in three separate shootings, two stabbings and a violent home invasion.

A 15-year-old boy was tied up and pistol-whipped Saturday afternoon during a
home invasion at the Admiral Court Apartments in the Walnut Hill
section of West Philadelphia.

The boy told police that he heard a knock on the door of his unit on the 200 block of South 48th Street around 3:40 p.m. and saw a black male through the peephole. He said that when he opened the door, the suspect asked him if he knew a man who lived next door and he responded he did not.

But he said that when he tried to close the door, a second man pushed it back open. Both men then allegedly brandished guns and asked him where his mom kept “the money.”

Police said one man struck the teen in the back of the head with his gun and the victim was then tied up with a belt and telephone cord.

The suspects combed the house, walking from room to room in a search for valuables. Investigators said they made away with about $2,000 and jewelry they found inside a cabinet in the boy’s mother’s room.

The suspects are described as a six-foot-tall black male with a medium build wearing a dark hat and carrying a silver revolver and a six-foot-tall black male with a medium build wearing a tan jacket and carrying a black handgun.

The apartment’s occupants were reportedly Cambodian-Americans who own a small business nearby.
