Want to know more about the Owls 24 newest recruits? Temple head coach Matt Rhule has spent years creating relationships with each of the newest incoming playerswho will join the squad as freshman in 2016. Here’s what he said about some of the key newcomers Wednesday:

Anthony Russo, QB, Archbishop Wood

“I think Russo, we lost him to Rutgers early on but I think he always liked Temple. He’s a great quarterback, I think as they got down here and met us and saw us,I hope that he felt this was a big time place. Ever since he committed he’s hit the ground running.

“We had a chance to see him work out in the spring, he’s tremendouslyaccurate. He’s a big kid I think he’s 230 [pounds], and the thing I love most about him is he’s a competitor. I like being around him.

“Anthony was very clear that he was like-minded to me and we thing the same way about a lot of things.

“He didn’t care who was here or whose coming. I like the fact that he wants to compete.”

Benny Walls, DB, St. Joseph’s Prep

“When you get a kid from St. Joes they do as good as anybody in the country. We are glad he came to our camp. Benny came here and he competed. He was big and fast and had all the measurables but he was coachable and teachable.”

Tyliek Raynor, RB, Imhotep

“Tyliek is a guy we offered way back and he’s one of the fastest kids in the northeast. At some point he recognized that being home is important to him.”

Kimere Brown, DB, Penns Grove

“Kimere Brown… he is a really talented kid.”

Linwood Crump, DB, Piscataway/Sayerville

“To get Linwood Crump, he is an elite talent, has a great family and was a kid we had to fight for all the way until today.”

Randle Jones, WR, North Miami Beach

“RandleJones, he’s just a dynamic kid.”

Freddie Johnson, WR, North Ft. Myers

“Freddie Johnson, today we had kind of a scare if he would sign with us or not, he had chances with some elite programs, but thankfully we were able to get him. He is a speed demon.”

Isaiah Wright, WR, Kingswood-Oxford

“Isaiahis a playmaker, I think he’s a star in the making. Hopefully he’ll come in and give our quarterbacks some weapons.”

Branden Mack, Athlete, Cheltenham

“Brandon Mack from Cheltenham, you talk about a kid who is 6-foot-4 plus, 200 pounds, he ran a 4.6 [40-yarddash] at our camp, plays quarterback, wideout, tight end, outside linebacker, I couldn’t even tell you where he was going to play, but he’s going to play. You want to take two or three kids who are just raw athletes. Those are the kids who will be drafted and play on Sundays.”

DarianBryant, OL, Chestnut Hill Academy

‘He’s done a nice job, he’s certainly not where everyone else is at, he’s way farther along. He’s a real nice kid, he’s real smart and works really hard.”
