According to a release, the retro and eclectic bar and lounge is turning the classic sandwich into a stand-out sammy with a dish ideal for the lover of all things spicy and hot – the Spicy Chicken Sammy ($13) made with Southern-fried (or grilled) chicken, lettuce, tomato, pickles, spicy mayo, served on a sesame bun. Diners can indulge in this sub with-or-without a side of crispy hand cut fries and enjoy in in the venue’s art and artifact filled outdoor garden.

With chicken in its name, you can almost expect the Bourse-based eatery to have plenty of options for National Fried Chicken Day ready and available. On July 6, Philadelphians can indulge in Freebyrd’s extensive line-up of hand-battered and crispy fried specialties including the classic Freebyrd Chicken Sandwich ($10) made with buttermilk-brined fried chicken, signature Alabama white BBQ sauce and homemade pickles, on a soft roll, and their Carolina Classic Chicken Sandwich ($10) crafted with their signature buttermilk brined fried chicken, lettuce, and tomato, assembled on a soft roll, with Duke’s mayo topping it all off. In Northern Liberties, Philadelphians can sink their teeth into the new American bar and grille’s “elevated” take on the classic fried chicken sandwich. The eatery’s Honey Dipped Fried Chicken ($15) is prepared with lettuce, tomato, pickles, buttermilk ranch dressing and assembled on a fresh Martin’s Seeded roll.

One area of the city has everything you need when looking for some options for National Fried Chicken Day. According to a release, East Passyunk’s Redcrest Fried Chicken is a no-brainer, offering the popular Drive-Thru Chicken Sandwich ($9) composed of crunchy fried chicken, lettuce, tomato, onion, pickles, topped off with a secret special sauce and served on a potato bun. Another go-to is Flannel, known for their southern comfort fare, and their take on Nashville Hot Chicken Sandwich ($14). This spicy sandwich is composed of crispy fried chicken, ranch dressing, green tomato pickles and is tossed in a specialty hot sauce, then finally placed on a sweet potato bun. In honor of the tasty holiday, South Philly bar and eatery Devil’s Den will be putting the spotlight on one of their fried chicken incorporated dishes with a spicy addition.
