Where to pick up artful presents you can’t order on Cyber Monday

Penn Museum

3260 South St.

In honor of its “Maya 2012” exhibit, the Penn Museum gift shop is stocked with a new collection of “I’m Going to Party Like It’s!” giftables (that’s nerd numerals for Dec. 23, 2012, the date of the rumored apocalypse). As for less fatalistic options, the museum also stocks artisan scarves and bags, Mexican ceramics and glassware, handmade baskets and educational toys. Stop by during its annual holiday sale (Dec. 5-9), when you’ll save 10 percent on all purchases.

Art Star Gallery & Boutique

623 N. Second St.

A year-round savior when you’re heading to a party and need a gift, a card and a dress, Art Star is a true Christmas miracle come December. Make it your go-to boutique for handcrafted ornaments, jewelry from local artists, original artwork, pop culture finger puppets and hostess gifts that will land you on every guest list. The shop has expanded its hours to include Mondays, meaning it’s open every single day throughout the holidays. God bless us, everyone.

Philadelphia Art Alliance

251 S. 18th St.

For its new “Shop on the Square” series, the Philadelphia Art Alliance is turning its second-floor galleries into a handmade holiday boutique with jewelry, accessories, clothing, tableware and more by local artists. After a kick-off preview benefit and auction on Dec. 3, the sale is open to the public daily Dec. 4-9 (noon-7 p.m.) and includes kid-friendly craft stations.
