Right-wingers think our own president is a bigger threat to national security than Russia’s President Vladimir Putin. At least people have forgotten the fears of the Cold War, I guess. There were few things they feared more, like attacks by Islamic and cyberterrorists.

US joined final Iran nuclear talks

John Kerry joined leaders from Britain, France, Germany, Russia and China to haggle with Iranover their nuclear future. The diplomats arehoping to find a way to get Iran to hold fire on their nuclear plans ahead of an imminent talks deadline.

Israel’s ex-PM faced jail

Ehud Olmerthas just been convicted for corruption. Heis already facing six years behind bars after being convicted in another case for accepting $160,000 cash stuffed in envelopes for a dodgy real estate deal during his tenure as Jerusalem’smayor.

A blogger was hacked to death

Another black day for freedom of speech in Bangladesh. Machete-wielding religious fanaticshacked secular blogger,Washikur Rahman, to death this morning in the nation’s capital, Dhaka. It comes after U.S. bloggerAvijit Roy met a similarly savage fate in Dhaka in February.

10 died in a landslide

While they were sleeping, 10 people were buried alive in their beds as flooding hit parts of the Kashmir region of India. Other people had fled their homes as unseasonalflash floods destroyed villages and crops.
