There has been no confirmation that Tom Coughlin will be the Eagles 23rd head coach.

There have been reports that the former Giants head coach, winner of two Super Bowl titles, is slated for a second interview this week. But the Birds have made no indications that a deal as been done.

That has not stopped a Wikipedia editor from altering Coughlin’s Wikipedia page, which lists him as the Eagles head coach.

Humorously, the opening line of his entry states that Coughlin is an American Football coach “who will hopefully be hired by the Philadelphia Eagles.”

The Eagles, according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, are no longer in the running for Coughlin as the coach has removed himself from consideration Thursday.. Yesterday night, one of the leading candidates, Giants offensive coordinator Ben McAdoo, was announced as New York’s new skipper.

With Adam Gasecommitted to coach the Dolphins, it leaves three other interviewees to take the job (assuming no more interviews occurs–and the Eagles have none on the books).

Pat Shurmur(the Eagles offensive coordinator and interimhead coach from Week 17), Duce Staley (Eagles running backs coach) and Doug Pederson (Chiefs offensive coordinator and former Eagles assistant and quarterback) are the names remaining aside from the Giants former coach.

If the Birds look to Pederson, they will need to wait until the Chiefs are eliminated from the playoffs. They face the Patriots Saturday in one of the AFC Divisional games.
