The woman accused of taking off with another woman’s baby from the King of Prussia Mall earlier this year is planning an insanity defense.

According to The Associated Press, attorneys for Cherie Amoore, 32, are claiming that she suffers from mental problems connected to a false pregnancy and its resultingdepression.

Amooreallegedly kidnapped a 7-week-old baby boy at the King of Prussia Mall in March after befriending the child’s mother and taking him when the mother was distracted, according to reports.

Investigators later found the child with Amoore at her apartment in Tredyffrin Township.

Amoore reportedly told authorities she gave birth in February, but the baby, a boy, died after only a few hours. She also admitted to police that she never told anyone that the child had passed away.

She was charged with kidnapping of a minor, unlawful restraint andfalse imprisonment, among of charges.

After her preliminary hearing, Amoore’s lawyer told NBC10 that his client is guilty of the kidnapping, but the central issue is why she did it. He added that she is receiving mental health treatment.
