Workforce Wednesday: 4 things you didn’t know about PA CareerLink

PA CareerLink Philadelphia centers help residents prepare to compete in today’s job market through a variety of resources, programs, and support services. They offer personalized job search assistance, specialized job seeker workshops, career counseling, skills and interest assessments, access to skills and occupational training, extensive job lead resources, and more.

Although PA CareerLink Philadelphia centers have been serving residents since 2012, there are still many misconceptions about what the centers do and how residents can receive help from its services.

PA CareerLink Philadelphia has resources for everyone

Many people think that the centers only serve the city’s unemployed. However, with over 50 partners in the system, there are services and resources that meet everyone at their specific point of need. No matter the skill set or education level, PA CareerLink Philadelphia can help. You should contact PA CareerLink Philadelphia for career assistance if you identify with one or more of the following categories:

  • Unemployed/laid off or underemployed
  • Youth or young adult (12-24 years old)
  • Older adult 55+
  • Returning citizen
  • Person with a disability
  • Veteran
  • English language learners

PA CareerLink Philadelphia can help you land your career of choice

Residents often associate our centers with employment opportunities that pay the minimum wage. The truth is that many of the employment and career training opportunities that are accessible through our centers are in high priority occupations that pay a family-sustaining wage. PA CareerLink Philadelphia is intentional to offer on-the-job training opportunities with employers that offer no less than $15/hour. Check out our vocational skills training calendar at pacareerlinkphl.org/training.

PA CareerLink Philadelphia can help shape you as a person and professional

Engaging with our centers means that you have access to a comprehensive system (a one stop shop) that is built to help you overcome barriers to employment, access free training, explore careers of interest, and set realistic life and professional goals that support your future.

PA CareerLink Philadelphia is currently open for business

While our four physical PA CareerLink centers are closed to the public, we are still offering services virtually. All individuals need is a smart phone to get started. To help keep everyone safe, we have made it easy for career seekers to register for services and programs online. To register for virtual workshops, check out our online Calendar of Events at pacareerlinkphl.org/calendar. We also encourage individuals to visit our Career Seeker Virtual Resource Center at pacareerlinkphl.org/resources.

For more information or to speak with someone, contact 1-833-750-5627 or [email protected]. The centers are virtually open Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. When you call, ask about:
